Together with his wife Katherine/Katharyn, George compiled the hymnal Lights of Home: a Collection of Sacred Songs, both New and Old, for the Church, the Sunday School, the Revival Meeting, the Singing School, the Singing Convention and all kinds of Religious Work and Worship, White Pine, TN: Sylva Music Company, 1926.
George also edited Truth and Hope No. 2: a Collection of Sacred Songs for Church, Sunday School, Revivals, etc., Hudson, NC: The Teacher's Music Publishing Company, 1920.
Bacon served as co-editor on other books, and wrote many tunes that appear in various shape note song books (for example, Perfect Praise, 1905, published by James D. Vaughan, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee).
