For five seasons, he played with the Boston Red Sox (1944-47) and Philadelphia Phillies in 1950. He ended his career with a record of 28 wins, 43 loss, 23 complete games, 2 shutouts, 14 saves, 243 strikeouts and a 4.34 earned run average. He died at age 72 in Sacramento, California.
