FORMER RESIDENT OF AREA DIES

Sarah Annie Gifford, 68, former resident of the Idaho Falls area, died Wednesday in a Jerome hospital after a lingering illness.
She was born February 6, 1894 in Springville, Utah, and came to Idaho in 1909 in a covered wagon. Her family settled in Carey.
She married James A. Gifford August 7, 1911 in (illegible). They moved to Woodville in 1917 and lived there until 1925, when they moved to Jerome.
The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1925. A member of the LDS Church, she taught primary and was active in the Relief Society for many years in both Woodville and Jerome.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1930.
Survivors include five sons, James E., Levi, and Kenneth, all of Jerome; John Henry, Firth; Roy, Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Lola Lawrence, Jerome; Mrs. Lucile Bales, Allmsville (sp), Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Lowe, Jerome; one brother, Thomas Mason, Castro Valley, Calif.; one half brother, Harry Mason, Blythe, Calif.; twenty-nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Jerome LDS church with Bishop Herrick M. Drake officiating. Final rites will be at the Jerome Cemetery under the direction of the Clippen-Hovey Funeral Home, Jerome.
