He was 19 years old when he broke into the big leagues, playing for sixteen seasons with the New York Giants, Pittsburg Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs and Brooklyn Dodgers. Nicknamed " Highpockets", he was a stilled infielder known for his solid hitting. With the Giants he appeared in four World Series, 1920 to 1924 and won in 1921 and 1922. He drove in 100 or more runs for four consecutive seasons and shares the National League record with seven home runs in six consecutive games, set in 1924. He retired after the 1932 season with a career a .297 batting average, 148 homeruns and 1020 runs batted in. In 1973, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He died of a stroke in Burlingame, California. Note: grave stone marker has wrong date of birth.
