Hall of Fame Major League Baseball Player. Born Charles Gardner Radbourn in Rochester, New York, he made his debut as a right handed pitcher for the Providence Grays on May 5, 1880. Nicknamed "Old Hoss", he played for 11 seasons with for the Providence Grays 1881 to 1885, Boston Beaneaters 1886 to 1889, Boston Reds 1890 and Cincinnati Reds 1891. In 1884, he won the National League's pitching Triple Crown with a 1.38 earned run average, 441 strikeouts and 60 wins in a season, a record which is expected never to be broken. He ended his career with 309 wins, 195 losses, 35 shutouts, 2 saves, 1,830 strikeouts and a 2.67 earned run average. In 1939, he was inducted into Baseball Hall of Fame by Veteran's Committee.
