Winfried was born in Burr Oak, Farmington Twp. where his father was the Lutheran parochial school teacher. The family moved to the Watertown, SD area in 1918 where Win met and married Miriam Alice Wygaard on June 14, 1933. Mim and Win had 2 children in Watertown, Kay Ellen and Ronald and the triplets, Joyce, Janet and John in Brainerd, MN. Win attended summer school at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm to get his teaching degree and served as a parochial school teacher in Claremont and Brownton, MN until 1952. The family then moved to New Brighton, MN where he worked as a machinist and various other positions. Win had a life-long love of music, playing organ and brass instruments throughout his life.
He died of a heart attack at 56 years old.
