He bounced around between the minor and major leagues for fourteen years. He enjoyed stints with the Philadelphia Phillies (1908-9), Boston Doves (1909-10), Chicago Cubs (1911), Boston Braves (1912), Cincinnati Reds (1917), and Boston Red Sox (1918-19). In 2,167 plate appearances, he batted .228 with 166 runs batted in. In 1918 he led American League hitters with 36 sacrifice hits.
