Mr. Roberts was born in Landover and attended Georgetown University. He was a Washington real estate salesman with Story & Co., and then Randall Hagner & Co., between 1918 and 1936. Since that time, he has operated his own development projects in Prince George's County. These have included Prince George's Apartments in Hyattsville and Kent Village in Landover. From the 1950s to late 1960s, he owned and operated a farm in Glenn Dale, where he bred Angus cattle. After that, he owned the Fairwood Turf Farm. He was a past president of the Maryland Turf Grass Association. Mr. Roberts was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bowie, and the Metropolitan and City Tavern clubs, both in Washington. In 1954, he was elected president of the Prince George's County Community Chest. His first wife, the former Countess Cornelia Szechenyi, died in 1958.
