On 30 Aug 1912 Andrew Jackson Grubb, Whitley County, Kentucky, filed Soldier's Application for Pension No. 1327 with State of Kentucky.
He states he was a soldier from the State of Va and a member of Co. C 45 Va Regt Inf and that he was borned in Grayson Co. Va in the year of 1836.
"I enlisted in Co. C 45 Va Regt Va Inf in the year 1861.
Served under Col Wm Brown and Edd Harman my captains Name was M. B. Cox".
"I walked out when we Surrendered. I was then in Withe Co Va this was in the year of 1865."
He stated that he had been a resident of Kentucky "Since the date of 1876 (36 years)".

I have a certified copy of the death certificate of A. Jackson Grubb [aka Jack, A.J.], widowed, born 20 Feb 1836 Va son of Jacob Grubb born N.C. and Nellie Richardson born N. C. He died 1 July 1921 Rockholds, Whitley County, Kentucky, of Tuberculous of Lungs. The informant was James Smith, Rockholds, Ky., who may be the husband of Jack's daughter Cora. Jack's burial is listed as 2 July 1921.
