Musician. Born Hudson Woodbridge, he was a blues guitarist dubbed "The Guitar Wizard," known for his brilliant single-note lead and slide style. During the 1920s and 1930s, he became Chicago's first guitar star to bridge the rural country blues of the South between the urban city blues style. His recording career spanned 30 years yielding hundreds of songs such as "It Hurts Me Too," "Anna Lou Blues," "It's Tight Like That," The Bluebird Beat," and "Turpentine Blues." He continued to record and perform into the late 1950s, until forced to retire due to health problems.
