Mrs. Pauline Frances Camp, 76, Artist And Writer, Expires In Home
Mrs. Pauline Frances Camp, 76, widow of Doctor Walter A. Camp, died in her home at 718 East Walnut street at 7 o'clock last night following a four-month illness.
Mrs. Camp was born June 18, 1863, in Boston, Mass.. She came to Springfield on a visit in 1883 when she met Doctor Camp. Two years later he went to Boston where they were married and returned to Springfield. He was a prominent physician in this section for 40 years preceding his death in 1920.
ARTIST AND WRITER
Mrs. Camp had lived practically all of the 54 years she lived in Springfield at the Walnut street home. A talented artist, she painted the panels of the residence. Numerous paintings from her brush also adorn the walls of the house.
Besides being an artist of more than unusual ability, she was a writer of note in her early life and contributed many articles and poems to leading magazines.
She was an ardent church worker until her failing health forced her to forego this. A member of the old Calvary Presbyterian church, she tranferred her membership to First and Calvary church when the two Presbyterian churches were consolidated.
JOY FROM FLOWERS
Another hobby of Mrs. Camp was her garden. But her joy in flowers was in giving them to less forunate persons and those who were ill.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Spalding, and two sons, Dr. George Camp and Dr. Francis Camp, all of Springfield, and four grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are not complet, but Herman Lohmeyer will be in charge.Her death cert. listed parents as Paul and Frances A [Bacon] Bishop both of MA. Husband listed Walter Camp.
