Composer. His best known orchestral work was the "Federal Overture" (1794. His memorial was designed by noted architect William Strickland.

Son of Joseph Carr, brother to Thomas Carr, who were also in the music profession.

Benjamin was a partner with George S. Shetky in Philadelphia from 1803 to 1811. Their firm did various things in the publishing, composing industry. Both Carr and Shetky were the organists at St. Peters, however they also were known to have actually built organs.

Carr was one of the founders of the Musical Fund Society in 1820.
