Lucy Say was the 1st woman to be elected a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. She was an accomplished nature artist and scientific collaborator with her husband. She made drawings of North American mollusks for his "American Conchology". She donated her husband's entomological collection and library to the ANSP.
