DEATH CLAIMS DR. RAMER
Rev. Dr. Emmett R. Ramer, 76, died at McKenzie, Tenn., March 19. He had been in failing health for some time.

He was well known in the denomination as a pastor, hymn writer, singer, and as the 1939 Moderator of the General Assembly. During his long ministry he held pastorates in Cumberland Presbyterian Churches at Princeton, Ky., Milan, Dyersburg, and McKenzie, Tenn. Before his retirement two years ago he served the Kansas City, Mo. church.

Dr. Ramer was a native of the community which bears his family name, Ramer, Tenn. He began his career as an evangelistic singer and conducted music in revivals. He served in World War I and while overseas preached in several churches in Britain and Scotland. Bethel College conferred on him the honorary Doctor of Divinity degree in 1957.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pauline Stegall Ramer, three daughters, Mrs. Caldwell Mayo, Mrs. Charles Taylor, and Mrs. J. C. Butler, and two sons, Emmett Ramer and Don Ramer.

The funeral was held at the McKenzie Cumberland Presbyterian Church and burial was in Milan, Tenn., where he had served as pastor a number of years.
