Traer Star Clipper, Friday, May 30th, 1919 page 1
The death angel entered the Owens in east Traer this week and took the beloved mother. Mrs. John 0wens Wednesday morning after an illness of three months. She suffered from a general breakdown, her heart and stomach being involved, and she was much affected by the death of her daughter Esther last week. Deceased who was Florence Jaqua, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Jaqua, Pioneer settlers and highly esteemed residents of this vicinity, was born here August 9, 1860. She married John C. Owens on December 25, 1888 and the couple lived on Old Buckingham and at Dinsdale until after the death of Mr. Owens a few years ago. Of late years the widow and children have been citizens of Traer.
Mrs. Owens was a lady of much intelligence of pleasing personality, much devoted to her children. She was the mother of a large family. She is survived by four sons, Milton, Omer, Grant and Sidney, and five daughters, Mrs. Laura Leslie, Mrs. Cora Wester, Mrs. Isabel Shirley, Christina and Harriet Owens. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and two daughters. A daughter Esther died just a few days ago. Thus, two deaths afflict the family in a week.
