Ruth Briscoe was the first and only child of Samuel Briscoe and Ruth Smith. Her mother apparently died from complications from childbirth.
Her father a few years later married Abigail Platt who helped in raising her and her half-siblings.
In April 1734 she married Joseph Brewster, Esq., son of Timothy Brewster and Mary Hawkins and a very prominent family. Ruth and Joseph had six children:
•Ruth Brewster (1734-1787)
•Mary Brewster (1735-1787)
•Lt. Joseph Brewster (1735-1818)
•Asnath Brewster (1739-1761)
•Deborah Brewster (1741-1832)
•Sarah Brewster (1746-1798)
