J.B.TIEKE Obituary from Guttenberg Press (Iowa)
On Thursday morning, March 23, 1898 occurred the death of J.B.Tieke, one of Guttenberg's old settlers, of lung fever. Mr. Tieke was born at Lohne Grosz Herzoghthum, Oldenberg on July 4, 1822. He came to America in 1853 locating at Cincinnati and in 1859 he came west settling in Guttenberg where he has resided. Mr. Tieke was married twice, his first wife dying in Germany ...... He married in June 28, 1853. Mr. Tieke leaves a wife and seven children: two boys Henry Tieke of Templetom, Iowa and Ben Tieke of this city; and girls Mrs. A. Pink, Mrs. Frank X. Roth; Mrs. Anna Lueck; Mrs. Ben Lake and Mrs. Arnold Kolhoff; two children died at Cincinnati and two in Guttenberg. He also leaves a brother, Henry Tieke of Keokuk, Iowa snd four sisters living at Cincinnati: Mrs. Wheler, Mrs. Voss, Mrs. Doepke and Mrs. Honningfort. The services were held Monday...remains interred in Catholic cemetery. Mr. Tieke was a man who was honored and respected by all who knew him..
