Albert Gregory Cavelti
Al Cavelti was born May 5, 1922 to Joseph and Margaret (Bisig) Cavelti. Al grew up on a dairy farm. In 1944, he flew 33 bombing missions over Europe as a gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress. In 1945 he became a machinist in Tacoma. He also worked for Western Farmers for many years. A part of his heart was in his homeland Switzerland. To his delight, he was able to visit in 2002. He was a member of the Eagles in Orting and the VFW as well. He was also known for building 13 floats for Orting, which he also drove. Al is survived by daughter Marie Stewart (Mike) of Graham, brothers, Joe & Herman, sister Margaret Heacock, stepdaughter Marjorie (Simpson), 1st wife Henrietta "Rusty" Mohler, grandchildren: Michael Stewart (Jennifer), Scott Stewart (Daryl), & Bill Stewart (Lacie); 5 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sweetheart of 13 years Dawn Ferrans of Graham and all of her family members, who brought so much joy into Al's golden years. Visitation 11-12 Wed. March 1, 2006, at Personal Alternative Funeral Services, 7419 Central Ave. N., Kent, followed by a 1pm military graveside service at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent. It was Al's fondest wish that all who knew him come to see him off for his "last flight."
