Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, with Bruce Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Moravian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Giese was born Aug. 22, 1907, in Edwards County, the son of Herman and Laura Grace (Fishel) Giese. He married Gladys Smith Dec. 24, 1927, in West Salem. She survives him.
He was a designer and an engineer, having invented, designed and manufactured harness racing starting gates. He was also a car dealer, a former member of Mason, a member of the Mt. Carmel Moose, and was a former member of the school board and Moravian Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Mount, of Evansville, Ind., and Jan Bannon, of Newport, Ore.; a brother, Stewart Giese, of West Salem; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Don Giese.
