US Congressman. Elected to represent Massachusetts' as At-Large in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1803 to 1805. He was also a State Court Judge and a Member of the Massachusetts State Legislature. Mitchell was the author of "History of the Early Settlement of Bridgewater, in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, including an extensive Family Register" (1840).
