MARRIED 65 YEARS, THEY DIE TOGETHER

Greenfield - A local man and his wife, married more than 65 years, were found dead Wednesday, in their car in their garage at home, according to police.
Police said Leon W., 89, and his wife Mrs Bessie F (Maxam) Graham, 87, of 586 Colrain Road, were found dead by a neighbor, William Barker, at 8:55 a.m.
They were pronounced dead at the scene by Dr Henry Rys of Turners Falls, medical examiner, who said Wednesday they died sometime after midnight.
He said death was caused by carbon monixide poisoning and ruled it a double suicide. He admitted the couple left a note.
The couple was married Oct. 26, 1910.
Mr Graham was a Greenfield water commissioner more than 20 years, a past master of Republican Lodge of Masons and a past patron of Arcana Chapter of the Eastern Star.

His wife, a native of Shelburne Falls, was a 1909 graduate of Arms Academy, a member of Arcana Chapter and a member for more than 50 years of Greenfield Women's Club and Dorothy Quincy Hancock Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.
