Deceased Name: CARL HAHN
CARL HAHN, 89, of Jamison, cofounder of Hahn's Bakeries in Northeast Philadelphia, died Monday at Doylestown Hospital.
Mr. Hahn was born in Moessingen, Germany, and came to the United States in 1928. In 1930, he married Pauline Kaupp Hahn, and they opened Hahn's Bakery in Lawndale the following year. They later opened bakeries at two other locations in the Northeast and ran them until Mr. Hahn retired in 1955.
Mr. Hahn was a member of the board of directors of Cheltenham Bank, a former tax assessor for Warwick Township, and a director of the Bakers Merchandise Cooperative of Philadelphia.
A Mason, he was a member of Friendship Lodge 400, F&AM, and the Lulu Temple Shrine Club. He was a charter member of Redeemer Luthern Church, and a past president of the Northeast Lions Club.
Survivors: his wife, Elizabeth H. Hitchings Hahn, whom he married two years after his first wife died in 1974; daughters, Edeltraude "Edith" Hahn Chesney, Pauline Hahn Kehler, Freda Hahn Costigan and Donna H. Kot; son, Carl G.; a sister; two brothers; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Services: viewing, 10 a.m. Friday, Joseph A. Fluehr 3d Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, followed by a service at 10:30 a.m.; burial, Doylestown Cemetery.
