Mrs. Westendorf Dead
Mrs. Joseph Westendorf died at her home north of Dieterich, Sunday afternoon, July 6, 1931 around 2:00 o'clock after an illness of long standing. Attained age 55 years.
Deceased was the daughter of Anton Repking and Elizabeth Sandschafer, pioneer settlers of Bishop Creek. Surviving are her husband Joseph Westendorf, three daughters; Mrs. Al (Bertha) Thole of St Francis, Mrs. H. B. (Ruby) Alexander, Chicago, Mrs. Louis (Ellen) Lustig, Chicago Heights; five sons: Herbert, Charles, Nicholas, Adolph and Leonard all at home; one brother John Repking of Bishop Creek and two sisters; Sister Mary Theresa of the Most Precious Blood at Carlsbad New Mexico and Mrs. Tony Koester of Effingham and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St Joseph Catholic Church, Island Grove, Wednesday morning at nine o'clock. The obsequies were well attended by the large relationship of the Westendorf and Repking families from far and near, neighbors and parishioners. Burial was made in the nearby parish Cemetery. Rev George Nell, local pastor, officiated. May her soul rest in peace!
