She was the daughter of the late H.L. Allison and Florida Shipman . Allison. She was a lifelong resident of Transylvania County and was active in church and community. After retirement from teaching in the public schools, she spent many winter in Umatilla, Fla.
She was married to Newton Wilson Pickelsimer, who died in 1985. Their son, Larry Wilson Pickelsimer, died in 1961. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Carl Allison and Pat Allison; and sisters, Irene Moore, Bessie Moore, Ellen Orr and Dorothy Batson.
She is survived by daughters, Jean Young of Pisgah Forest and Nancy Elkins and her husband, Hank, of Chapel Hill; granddaughter, Tabitha Young of Asheville; grandsons, Kyle Young of Pisgah Forest, Brent Elkins and wife, Carrie, of Cambridge, Mass., and Zachary Elkins and wife, Jules, of Champaign, Ill.; great-grandsons, Andy and Jake Elkins of Cambridge, Mass.; Seven Allison nieces and nephews; seven Pickelsimer nieces and nephews and additional nieces and nephews the fifth generation.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Brevard. Patrick Kabanda will perform a concert. Ministers Lee Eakes, Tommy Owens and Bill Phister will officiate. Memorials may be made to American Leprosy Missions, 1 Alm way, Greenville, S.C. 29601; another Christian Charity; of a charity of the donor's choice.
