Arrived with mother at Port of NY aboard the ship, Dibby & Eliza in 1816 with his older (John David Ogilby) and younger (Robert Ogilby) brother. Kept diary of visit in 1840 to family in Ireland, provided to Michele Guinness and recounted in her book, "The Guinness Spirit", 1999. Married his first cousin from Ireland.
