Donald Peers toured the variety theatres and at his peak in 1949 performed his one-man show to an audience of 8,500 at the Royal Albert Hall. At his peak he was earning £15,000 per week. He had a string of hits, his most famous song and signature tune being "In a Shady Nook, By a Babbling Brook".
