Lois O. Cobert, 88, of Rock Island, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time Thursday. Private inurnment will be at a later date at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Women of Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island.
Lois Gochanour was born April 27, 1924, in Muscatine, a daughter of Elmer and Ethel Dickerson Gochanour. She married Clifford J. Cobert on May 9, 1946, in Grandview, Iowa. He died Oct. 9, 1990.
Lois retired from the bookstore at Augustana College, where she worked for over 20 years.
She was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Lois was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, and the Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Zal Caldron, Moline. She enjoyed knitting, collecting angels and birds, reading and playing cards. Lois loved her family and had a special fondness for her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford J. Jr. and Deb Cobert, East Peoria, Ill., Michael L. and Sally Cobert, Rock Island, Steven A. and Dawn Cobert, Ghent, Ky., and Jeffrey S. Cobert, Rock Island; son-in-law, John Will, O'Fallon, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Carroll Gochanour, Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Arlene Hiett, Muscatine; brother-in-law, Richard Stammer, Muscatine; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Moore, Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sandra K. Will; sister, Marilyn Stammer; and brothers, Marion, Gerald, William and Robert Gochanour.
