Bernard Wienhold Resident of County 50 Years, Is Dead

Bernard Wienhold, a resident of Pocahontas county for more than 50 years, died at his farm home on Sunday following a long illness. Funeral services were held here on Wednesday morning in Sacred Heart Church, Rev. Fr. H. B. Karhoff was celebrant of the requiem high Mass. Rev. Fr. Cletus Keleher, a nephew, was in the sanctuary. Pallbearers were: Thos. Schluttenhofer of Gilmore City, P. J. Harrold of Palmer, P. J. Quinn, Joe Milefchik, John Eike and Francis Ryan of this place. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Wienhold was born February 18th, 1876, the son of Henry Wienhold and Anna Marie Franka. When he was 14 years old he went to England where he remained for two years before coming to America at the age of 16. He first settled in Nebraska where he lived for 10 years. He then came to Pocahontas county where he has since resided. His marriage to Mary Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Miller, took place Feb. 2, 1910 in Sacred Heart church and they established their home on a farm southeast of Pocahontas. After three years they purchased a farm near Havelock where they lived until 1941, when they disposed of it. That same year they purchased their present farm home northwest of Pocahontas.

Besides his wife, he is survived by eight children, Mrs. Ervin Keerbs of Bonfield, Ill.; Rupert H. of Pocahontas; Mrs. Robert Cook of Estherville; Vincent of Ware; Bernard of Havelock; Leo of Yetter; Mrs. Florent Hotovec of Sargeant, Minn. and Virgil, a student at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn.; and 19 grandchildren.

All his children and their families were present for the funeral. Other relatives from a distance in attendance were: Miss Dorothy Ersland of Waterloo, Miss Louise Miller of Des Moines, and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Forey and family of West Bend.
