Add PhotosThis is a large well-kept cemetery in the small fortified medieval town of Moret-sur Loing. The 19th Century Impressionist artist, Alfred Sisley, painted many scenes in this city and is buried here. One of his paintings was printed on a giant canvas and mounted on the Port de Bourgogne or the city gate at the entrance to Moret-sur-Loing. There are nearly 650 recorded burials in the cemetery with over 250 unmarked. There are hundreds of marble and sandstone markers with some flat while others towering upright. Located in a residential neighborhood, the cemetery is surrounded with a five-foot wall and trees with a wrought iron gate at the entrance. Using paths, the cemetery is divided in four sections. A tall war memorial is in the middle of the cemetery at the cross section of the paths. The plots are very tightly arranged in rows. The cemetery's operational hours are Monday through Thursday 9AM to noon and 2:30 to closing at 5:30. On Friday, the hours are the same except the cemetery closes at 5:15. On Saturday the hours are 9:30 to noon and closed on Sunday. Handicap parking is at the gate.
