Adam H. Lipka, 88, Dies at Hospital

Patrolman's Father Succumbs Friday; Services Monday

Adam H. Lipka, 88, for more than half a century a resident of La Salle, and father of Patrolman Rudolph Lipka, La Salle died at 9:20 o'clock Friday night in St. Mary's hospital, La Salle.

Mr. Lipka, who resided at 1718 Zinc St. had been in ill health for the past two months. He had been a patient at the hospital since Dec. 4. His wife Mrs. Caroline Lipka, has been a patient in the hospital since last April.

Born in East Prussia, Germany, Jan. 14, 1855, he was united in marriage there to Miss Caroline Kochanowski about 63 years ago. In 1891 Mr. and Mrs. Lipka came to the United States to make their home in La Salle.

Mr. Lipka was employed for some years at the roast kiln of the M. and H. Zinc company. He had been inactive, however, for the last 35 years because of an infection which necessitated amputation of his right leg.

Surviving in addition to the widow, are five children, William, Herman, Rudolph and Paul Lipka, of La Salle, and Emil Lipka, Peru. Sixteen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive.

Three children preceded him in death, Otto, who passed away 35 years ago at the age of 11, Carl, who died in infancy, and Mrs. Anna Hammerich, La Salle, who died just 18 months ago yesterday, June 17, 1942.

Mr. Lipka was a member of the Men's Benevolent society, of the La Salle Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the Friedrich funeral home, La Salle. From the funeral home the cortege is to move to the La Salle Lutheran church where the Rev. Walter Kleffmann, pastor, is to be in charge at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be made in Oakwood cemetery, La Salle.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock Saturday evening.
