Edward J. Munderloh was the son of Heinrich (1854-1915) and Hermine Rehling Munderloh (1855-1946).  He was born on their farm south of Bancroft on April 28, 1890.

He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and attended the Zion Lutheran School.  After finishing school, he helped on the family farm.  A fall from a horse when he was a young man left him with a hearing loss.  His favorite pastime was reading.

On October 27, 1915 he was married to Anna E. Groth of West Point, at the Zion Lutheran Church.  Anna was the daughter of Christian (1857-1919) and Dorothea Meyer Groth (1864-1899).  She was born September 5, 1894 at their farm home northeast of West Point.  Anna was only five when her Mother died.  Meyer relatives cared for the new born twins, and her father cared for the other five children.  Anna and her sister learned to do the housework, including canning fruit.  It was quite a surprise to the children when their father brought home a new wife.  He married Louisa Brunke, a seamstress from Snyder.

After Ed and Anna's marriage, they lived on their farm one mile west of Zion Llutheran Church and remained there until their deaths.  Edward died on November 14, 1976 and Anna died April 28, 1973.

They were the parents of six children: Arthur, Bancroft; Clarence, Omaha' Melvin, Bancroft; Reinold, Bancroft; Darlene Kardell, Omaha and Donald, Scribner
