Amelia B. Spomer
Graveside services for Amelia Backer Spomer, 94, will be held Thursday, August 18, 1983 at 11 p.m. at the Lusk Cemetery, with Rev. Roy Benson of the First Lutheran Church in Longmont officiating.
Amelia died Saturday August 13, 1983 in Longmont, Colo. She was born December 20, 1888 in Beibeck, Russia. She immigrated to the United States at the age of 16. She made her home in Lincoln, Nebr.
She was married to Adam Backer in Lincoln in January, 1908. They homesteaded in Keeline in 1911 and later moved to the oilfields near Midwest. They returned to a farm in Keeline where Mr. Backer died. Mrs. Spomer lived in Denver, and at the time of her death she was residing in Longmont.
She is survived by two sons, John Backer of Sheridan and William Backer of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Marie Nagel of Tucson, Ariz. and Lydia Fields of Longmont, Colo.; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Dorothy Schadler. Services were held Wednesday, August 17, 1983 at 11 a.m. at the Fireside Chapel at 17th and Clarkson in Denver. Rev. Roy Benson officiated at the services.
The Peet Mortuary of Lusk is in charge of the local arrangements.
