Funeral arrangements were underway here today for three Brainerd residents who were killed late Tuesday when a car in which they were riding plunged from a road near Kenton, Mich., after a tire blew out. The car came to rest in a creek. The accident occurred at 4:30 pm.
The dead are Mrs. Emily Kulla, 51, wife of the Rev. Emily Kulla, 1502 Quince street; Joyce Kulla, 11, daughter of the Kullas, and Mrs. Anna Ylinen, 72. 402 SE Twelfth street, a friend of the Kulla family.

The Rev. Mr. Kulla, driver of the car, suffered a knee injury and his son, Donald, 12 suffered a fractured shoulder. Rev. Kulla and Donald are in the General hospital at Stambaugh, Mich.
Bodies of the dead were to be brought to Brainerd either late today or Thursday morning. They will be taken to the Halvorson funeral home.

The Rev. Mr. Kulla, pastor of the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran church in Brainerd, was enroute to Minneapolis from Negaunee, Mich., where he conducted services Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. He was to conduct a funeral service in Minneapolis today. He was then to return to Brainerd.

The pastor is also employed as a car inspector at the Northern Pacific shops here.

Mrs. Kulla was alive when taken from the partially submerged car and died at the hospital four hours later. Joyce Kulla is believed to have drowned. Mrs Ylinen died instantly of her injuries.

Seven children of the Kulla family were not with their parents on the trip to Michigan. They are Esther, Evelyn, Phyllis and June Kulla, Brainerd and Helmi Kulla, Minneapolis; Carl Kulla, who is with the army at Camp Robinson, Ark., and Theodore Kulla of Hastings, Minn. A sister of Mrs. Kulla, Helmi Rosenlund, resides in Brainerd.
