Joseph J. Schnoor was born in Bruseittz, Germany, January 5th, 1847. He died at Smiths Mill on Tuesday, July 18th. His age was 75 years, 6 months and 13 days. He came to America when 20 years of age and settled on a farm near Janesville and here he has resided since that time, for the last seven years with his son.
On Sept. 14th 1873, he was married to Julia Ziemke. There were born to this union three children — Mrs. Charles Gantner of Maddox, N. D., Mrs. A. E. Scherschnidt of Stettle, Alberta, and Fred who resides in Iosco, all of whom, together with his wife, survive the deceased.
The funeral was conducted Saturday at the Trinity German Lutheran Church, Rev. M. Winter officiating, and the remains laid to rest in the Janesville cemetery.
The deceased was a man of marked probity of character who during his long career in this vicinity possessed the confidence and respect of his associates and acquaintances and the people generally. His death is sincerely mourned by a
large circle of friends.
