PETER R. HANSON (Hansen) DIED WEDNESDAY
Resident of Douglas County since 1875 Reached Ripe Old Age of 81 Years.

Peter R. Hanson died last Wednesday morning, Aug. 24, at his home in Alexandria. He was 81 years, 6 months and 4 days old at the time of his death. Mr. Hanson had been sick for three months and had been confined to his bed for the past three weeks.
Mr. Hanson was born in Denmark, Feb. 20, 1840. At the age of twenty two he emigrated to America and for a time was employed in the eastern states, working his way westward, finally settling in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. A few years later he came to Minneapolis, where he was married to Miss Anna Marie Olson, Nov. 4, 1870. Five years later, they came to Douglas County and settled in Belle River township. Sixteen years ago they sold the farm and moved to Alexandria where they have made their home ever since.
Mr. Hanson is survived by his aged widow and nine children, Mrs. Emil Forsgren of McGregor, North Dakota, Miss Sophia M. Hanson of Grenora, N.Dak., Mrs. T. R. Mahan of Durango, Colo., Mrs. K.K. Evavold of Ashby, Minnesota, Dora E. Hanson at home, A.C. Hanson of Nelson, Minnesota, J.R. Hanson of Alexandria, Rev. R. A. Hanson of Racine Wisconsin, and albert M. Hanson, a missionary at Manasoa, Madagascar. One son Henry was drowned 28 years ago.
The funeral was held last Friday from the home and the Norwegian Lutheran Free Church, Rev. E. Christianson officiating. Burial was made in the Danish Lutheran Cemetery, near Nelson. (Note: The Nelson Cemetery was once two cemeteries side by side. The Danish half is the eastern half, the Norwegians from Our Saviour's Lutheran usually buried on the western half. They are one cemetery today.)
Mr. Hanson was widely known and highly respected by all who knew him. He will be missed, especially by the Norwegian Lutheran Free Church congregation, as well as by all who knew him as a good, kind friend.
