Robert Bailey, 75, Delta, died at 5 am Tuesday at the home of a cousin, Mrs. Wilbur Spurgeon, Belle Center, where he has been the past week following dismassal at Mary Rutan hospital. He had been ill a number of years and had resided for the past five years in Delta. Prior to that, he and his family lived in the Huntsville area.
Born June 18, 1889 in McArthur Twp., a son of Robert and Susan Foulk Bailey. He retired 10 years from employment by the State Highway Department, he was also a member of the Church of Christ and a veteran of WWI, 326th Field Artillery, and served in France. He was a former member of the American Legion post in Huntsville, and of Logan County Barracks #1042, Bellefontaine.
Robert enlisted in the US Army on May 25, 1918 from Logan Co., Ohio, age 22, Private.

Co. K 330 Inf to July 27, 1918.
Co. G 104 Inf to date of discharge, St. Mihiel.

Robert married Thelma McGinnis on Apr 4, 1936, in Kenton, Ohio., who survives along with a step son, Roger McGinnis; four step grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. J.C. (Ursula "Sula") Law, Mrs. Lawrence (Rosa) Beemer and Miss Ellen Mary Bailey. Two brothers and one sister are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm at Wendell Swoope Funeral Home, Belle Center. Burial is in Fairview-McDonald Cemetery.
