Albert Jackson Elgin, Sr. Albert Jackson Elgin, Sr., 90, of Frederick County, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 in a local nursing home. He was born September 19, 1919 in Washington, DC, the son of James Carlisle and Pauline Smith Elgin. He married Jean Feazelle May 15, 1944 in Roanoke, VA. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 until 1946 in the 500th Armored Field Artillery, 14th division in the European Theatre from 1944 until 1946. Mr. Elgin had been a dairy farmer for nineteen years in Loudoun County, VA and later an internal auditor with First Bank of Strasburg. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winchester and the American Legion. Surviving are his wife; a son, Albert Jackson Elgin, Jr. and his wife Karen of Chesapeake, VA and two grandsons, James Keith Elgin and his wife Emily and Nathaniel Jackson Elgin and his wife Jennifer. A son, Keith Carlisle Elgin, is deceased. A private graveside service will be in Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Vienna with Rev. William White officiating. Friends will be received on Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Phelps Funeral Chapel, 5095 Main Street, Stephens City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clear Brook Volunteer Fire and Rescue, 1256 Brucetown Road, Clear Brook, VA 22624 or to First United Methodist Church, 308 N. Braddock Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
