Private funeral service will be held at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Cory Burma officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Leigh, Nebraska. Memorials may be directed to Creston Fire and Rescue Unit or Peace Lutheran Church.
Edna Sander was born December 24, 1920, on a farm west of Leigh, Nebraska, to Otto and Pauline (Kumpf) Wurdeman. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh. She attended two country schools and Zion Parochial School. Edna graduated from Leigh High School. Edna worked for the Bank of Leigh, Central National Bank, and First National Bank and Trust Company in Columbus. On February 1, 1948, Edna was united in marriage to Arnold Sander in Leigh. They farmed south of Creston for many years before moving to Columbus in1973. She was a very loyal and long term employee of First National Bank, even retiring twice, the last retirement at age 82. Edna was formerly a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh, and currently a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus. She enjoyed playing cards and going square dancing.
