William Mader first hired out on the Michigan Central Railraod as a fireman Aug 12, 1906 and was promoted to locomotive engineer in 1912. He retired May 28, 1953. The last three years were spent handling the "Wolverine" and the "Twilight Limited." March 1, 1921, he married the former Gayle Z. Stephenson, and they live at 724 Woodbine Street, Jackson where Mr. Mader devotes himself to gardening when he's not traveling. The Maders have one daughter, Gloria Joan Mader Fick.
