Maxine M. Francke, 97, passed away of age-related causes Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, in Ogden, Utah.
Mrs. Francke was born June 4, 1915, in Lakeview, Mich. She is the daughter of Ray G. Hafey and Elva N. (Bannen) Hafey Griffith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ray G. Hafey, in 1950, husband Donald E. Francke in 1978, brother Ronald L. Hafey in 1985, mother Elva N. Griffith 1989, and daughter Markay Strohmeyer in 2010.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Stephanie Reinhard of Manteca, Calif., Michel Herstam of Phoenix, Ariz., David E. Francke of St. Thomas, USVI, and Jon E. Hafey-Francke and his wife Lorelei of Ogden, Utah. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Maxine was both an RN and homemaker, receiving her nursing training at Saint Joseph Catholic Hospital and University Hospital Ann Arbor, both in Michigan. She lived in Michigan and then moved to Arizona, where she was a longtime resident living in Phoenix, then Prescott. She passed away while on an extended visit in Ogden, Utah.
Her hobbies included an appreciation for music, art and antiques, and she was very accomplished at crocheting. She enjoyed good conversations with friends over tea/coffee and some of her homemade English toffee.
Remembrance and thoughts of appreciation from her children: "Mother was beloved by all her children and grandchildren. She will always remain in our hearts."-Daughters Stephanie and Michel.
