Joseph E. Ziel, 84, Bradenton, died Nov. 13, 2006.

He was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Chicago and came to Manatee County in 1975 from Springfield, Ill. He was a special agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1949 to 1975.

He volunteered for the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, the DeSoto Council of Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church and later at Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Agnes; daughters Mary Jurewicz and Celeste Besel, both of Bradenton; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8pm today at Brown & Sons Funeral Home, 43rd Street Chapel. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles Catholic Church in Bradenton. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Ill. Memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 or American Life League, P.O.
