Elwood Wolkow
DE SMET - Funeral services for Elwood Lorahl Wolkow, 64, De Smet, who died Jan. 9, in a De Smet hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the United Church of Christ at Erwin with the Rev. Bruce Herrboldt officiating. Burial will be in the Erwin Cemetery.
Visitation will be in the Osthus Funeral Home at De Smet today (Friday) until 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and in the church Saturday preceding the services. There will be a family prayer service at 7 tonight in the funeral home.
Mr. Wolkow was born Jan. 16, 1921, at Erwin to Alfred and Maria Wolkow. He grew up in Erwin, attended elementary school there and graduated from Erwin High school in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to until 1946.
He married Evelyn Kant April 2, 1948, at Arlington. The couple lived all their married lives in the Erwin and De Smet communities. Mr. Wolkow was employed by Sorenson Farms until 1976, when he took a position with the Kingsbury County Highway Department. He was a member of the Erwin American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; Three sons, Gary of De Smet, Wayne of Meridian, Idaho, and Bruce of Boise, Idaho; five brothers, Harrison of De Smet, Howard of Milaca, Minn., Hugh of Vancouver, Wash., Helmer of San Bruno, Calif., and Harold of Visalia, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Helen Guse of Canistota; and two grandsons.
