Obituary: Ronnie Matney

Ronnie Lee Matney, 51, of Columbia died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at University Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Meador & Son Funeral Home in Centralia with the Rev. Joseph Hendren officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at the funeral home.

Mr. Matney was born June 30, 1947, in Sullivan, Ind., to L.C. Matney and Hazel Humphrey Williams.

He married Virginia Johnson on April 17, 1971, and she survives.

He was employed with Ryder Truck Co. for 18 years and later worked for the city of Columbia, retiring two years ago.

Survivors also include his mother of Columbia; his father of Paducah, Ky.; a son, Ronnie Dale Matney of Morehouse; three daughters, Rhonda Lea Zielinski of Columbia, Tammi Marie Blumenberg of East Prairie and Melissa Leah Matney of St. Louis; five brothers, Cecil Matney of Columbia, David Matney of Fulton, Jerry Matney of St. Louis, Herman Matney of Hallsville and Julian Matney of Topeka, Kan.; four sisters, Laura Cagle of Columbia, Shirley Stewart of Treasure Island, Fla., Diane Cagle of Bowling Green and Sheila Cagle of Augusta, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and his stepfather.
