Born to Joseph Boggs and Elizabeth Plough/Plow Boggs near Richmond, Madison County, Kentucky.

He became the second husband of Mrs. Mary "Polly" Gentry Gillispie, widow, on Dec. 7, 1843, in Kentucky. She came to the marriage with 8 children by her first husband, Wilson Gillispie. They moved to Andrew County, Missouri in 1847-1848.

Robert was killed by a gang of "hooligans" from Kansas, allegedly for his public sympathy of the south. However, when they brought him out to his yard and shot him, they also robbed him. He was known to keep money in order to loan it out to his neighbors. Mary pleaded with the men to spare her husband, but was told to go back in the house or she would get more of the same.

Son: Robert Cornelison Boggs 1844-1905 moved back to family in Madison County, KY. He was not mentioned in any of of the probate records for either his father or mother.
