Mable Irwin, 87, of Independence MO, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E 39th St., Independence. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Friday Dec. 21, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be at Mound Grove Cemetery. Mable was born Dec. 2, 1925 near Bridgeport, NE, to Alton and Lillie (Donnelly) McFarland. She grew up on the family farm outside Seymour, MO, and graduated from Seymour High School in 1944. Mable later moved to Kansas City, MO, where she worked at Montgomery Ward and Emery Byrd Thayer for several years. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone and AT&T where she was a long distance telephone operator and trainer for 40 years. Mable is survived by three daughters, Constance Mitchell Braun of Gahanna OH; Carol Mitchell Makowski and Nanette Park (Kevin), both of Independence, MO; five granddaughters, Stacey Heger, Kristin Dienst-Braun, Karin Braun Tangeman (Jeff), Kimberly Lightfoot (James), and Kelly Snyder (Matthew); eight great grandchildren; sister, Betty Mun (Ted) of San Bruno, CA, and the numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Irwin, and siblings Gertie, Bonnie, Earl, Dorothy and Billie; and son-in-law Chris Braun.
