Evelyn Stenzel, 87, of Wells, MN, died Friday, October 26, 2012 at Parkview Care Center in Wells. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN, with Father Thomas Niehaus officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home, with Rosary at 7 p.m. followed by a prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will follow the service in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.
Evelyn Isabell Stenzel was born December 19, 1924 in Clark, SD, the daughter of Ernest Gene and Ida (Curtis) Lorenz. Evelyn was united in marriage to Robert Frank Stenzel on January 27, 1948 in Wells. She was a hairdresser for over 50 years. Evelyn was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church; CCW, and worked with the sewing circle at the church. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved fishing and crocheting.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Barbara Jean (Francis) Svoboda and Elaine (William) Schiebel, all of Hutchinson, MN; Norbert Stenzel of Lacrosse, WI; Arnie (Margo) Stenzel of Wells, MN; and Gwen (Tim) Eich of Cedar Falls, IA; 11 grandchildren: Lisa, Lori, Lynn, Mark, Christopher, Nathan, Adam, Ryan, Joe, Melissa, and DeAnna; 8 great-grandchildren: Michaela, Morgan, Daunte, Kimberly, Audrey, Mariah, Henry and Sophia; three brothers, James (Adeline) Lorenz of Wells; Donnie (Angie) Lorenz of Clark, SD; and Ted (Shirley) Lorenz of Sioux Falls, SD; three sisters, Frances Riter, Rapid City, SD; Margaret Fister, Watertown, SD and Wilma Bull, Watertown, SD; one sister-in-law, Jeanette Lorenz of Alden; and one brother-in-law, Lawrence (Mary) Stenzel of Decatur, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 2007, daughter-in-law, Alisha Stenzel, brother, Phillip Lorenz and brother-in-law, Harold Riter.
