Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City with Pastor Chadric Dietrich officiating.
Visitation will be 12:00 Noon Thursday, until service time.
Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Glenn; daughters, Susan Kinnear of Allen, Texas, and Ann (Jerry) Taylor of Mason City; two grandchildren, Jeff (Becca) Allen, TX, and Sara Kinnear of Plano, TX; great-grandchildren, Kian and Kai Kinnear; and sister, Irene Schwint of Zephyrhills, FL. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Walter and Edna Mousel Wendt; and sister Joanne Folsom.
Phyllis Anna Wendt Austin was born May 12, 1932 near Rockwell City, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Phyllis graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1950. She also graduated from Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines. On May 3, 1953 she was united in marriage to Glenn Austin at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rockwell City. Phyllis was a homemaker for most of her life. The couple made their home in Mason City, and in 1991, moved to Rockwell City. In January of 2012, they moved from Sunnyview Independent Living, and returned to Mason City. Phyllis loved flowers, her garden, and her family was her pride and joy. She was a member of the GGG Club.
