Bernadine Rita (Vock) (Getzendaner) Blum, 91, of Rockford, IL formerly of Polo, IL passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012.
Born Dec. 16, 1921, in Coleta, IL the daughter of Edward Francis Vock and Gertrude Agnes (nee Marschang) Vock then Dieterle. Bernadine was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Polo where she had a pre-funeral memorial service on Monday, Dec. 24. She was also a member and past president of St. Mary Altar and Rosary Society, past president of The White Pines Town and Country Club of Polo, past officer of The Ogle County Health Improvement Association, past officer in The Merry Martha Club of Leaf River, member of The Woman of The Moose Chapter 485 of Mt. Morris, and member of The American Legion Auxiliary 0083 of Polo.
She is survived by daughters, Eleanor (Ronald) Heidenreich of Rockford, IL and Mary (Laurence) Clothier of Mt. Morris, IL; son, Michael (Brenda) Getzendaner of Polo, IL; six granddaughters; two grandsons; seven great-granddaughters; six great-grandsons; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta Carroll of Polo, IL, Ruth Forristall of Ohio, IL, and Dorothy Clothier of Polo, IL; and brother, Francis Vock of Polo, IL.
She was predeceased by her parents; husbands, Leo William Getzendaner of Mt. Morris, (later, Leaf River) and Warren Henry Blum of Polo; sisters, Mary Catherine (Vock) Hodge formerly of Sterling, and Eileen (Vock) Wright, formerly of East Peoria.
Special thanks to the caretakers of Emeritus at Rockford and Northern Illinois Hospice. Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Polo, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time; Fr. Louis Tosto will officiate.
