Bernice M. Baty was born in Portland, ME on May 17, 1912 and passed away on February 4, 2006.
Bernice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Baty.
Survivors include two children, Sam Baty and his wife, Linda and Suzanne Fickel and her husband, Bill, two grandchildren, Kathleen Tomlinson and her husband, Erik (deceased) and Kevin Fickel and his wife, Lisa, three great-grandchildren, Amanda Tomlinson, Trevor Fickel, and Tyler Fickel.
Bernice was an educator by profession. Bernice received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Kansas and her Masters and administrative certification from the University of New Mexico. Bernice taught English at Valley High School, chaired the Counseling Department at Sandia High School, was Assistant Principal at Taft Junior High and completed her years as Principal at Yucca Elementary School. Bernice was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church.
Services for Bernice will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. The Viewing will be on February 7, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Reverend Scott Sharp, of Covenant United Methodist Church, will officiate the service.
Internment will follow the service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Wyoming and Paseo del Norte.
The family greatly appreciates the outstanding care that was given to Bernice at Andrew House, Las Palomas Rehab and Nursing Center and by the Vista Care Hospice.
