Funeral services for Walter Ziemer, age 86, of Browns Valley, MN were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 1988 at United Methodist-Presbyterian Church, Browns Valley, Pastor Arthur Bayley officiated with Janet LeClair, organist, Bill Randall, Clare Duffield, Bill Duffield, and Donald Dobbs, vocalists. Serving as casket bearers were Brian Paulson, Jerry, John, Jeff, Bob, David and Don Metz. Honorary casket bearers were "all of his many friends and neighbors." Interment was in the Valley View Cemetery, Browns Valley. A public visitation and prayer service was held Thursday at the Larson Funeral Home, Browns Valley.
Walter William Ziemer was born April 14, 1902 in Lake Fremont Twp., Martin Co., MN, to parents William and Emma (Linke) Ziemer. On Novermber 3, 1923 he was united in marriage to Adalon Sykora at Sisseton, SD. Walter farmed all of his lifetime in Becker Twp., Roberts Co., SD. He was a member of United Methodist-Presbyterian Church, Browns Valley. Walter passed away December 11 at his home in Browns Valley.
Survivors include his wife Adalon of Browns Valley; son Gordon of Browns Valley; daughters Marjorie Metz, Phyllis Ziemer, and Shirley Metz, all of Browns Valley and Beverly Paulson of Rosholf, SD; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; brothers Willis and Emmett both of Browns Valley, and Donald of Fullerton, CA; sisters Bertha Foster and Alice Mussetter, both of Sisseton, SD, and Marian Randall of Browns Valley.
Preceding him in death were son, Galen; grandaughter, Ann; his parents; sisters, Marge and Mabel.
